MediaEval 2012 Visual Privacy Task: Applying Transform-domain Scrambling to Automatically Detected Faces
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we describe our approach and discuss evaluation results for the MediaEval 2012 Visual Privacy task. The goal of the task is to obscure faces of people visible in provided surveillance clips to preserve their personal privacy. We also additionally assume, although it is not explicitly stated in the task description, that the privacy protection should be done in an automated way and the applied privacy tool should be reversible and prone to attacks. We use a combination of a face detection algorithm and transformdomain scrambling technique, which pseudo-randomly scrambles bits during encoding, that was applied to the detected face regions. The evaluations of the resulted automated privacy protection tool showed that inaccuracies of the face detection algorithm affected both objective and subjective results. An interesting finding is however that scrambling, while being non-distractive to the evaluating subjects, appeared significantly irritating with score of 0.8, but only for ’evening’ subset of the dataset.

This paper describes our participation in the Visual Privacy Task of MediaEval 2013, which aims to obscure human occurrence in image sequences. As a result the recorded person should be unrecognisable. We use an approach which pseudo-randomly scrambles pixels within specified regions. This technique is reversible and preserves the colour characteristic of each region. So, colour-based approache...
متن کاملMediaEval 2012 Visual Privacy Task: Privacy, Intelligibility through Pixellation and Edge Detection
In this paper, we describe a method that can protect privacy in video footage by automatically obscuring faces. In order to retain some level of intelligibility, a specific filter has been added for showing some facial features without revealing the person’s identity.

In this paper we present a system for preserving the privacy of individuals in video sequences by obfuscation of facial appearance, so as to render recorded people unrecognizable. Therefore we address the following two problems: automatic face detection and scrambling of face region. A multi-resolution access control scheme is used in order to decrease the visual quality of regions containing f...

This paper describes our participation in the Visual Privacy Task of MediaEval 2014, which aims to obscure human occurrence in image sequences. As a result the recorded person should be unrecognisable, but if needed the obscured areas can be recovered. We use an approach which models the background and pseudo-randomly scrambles pixels within disjunct foreground areas. This technique is reversib...

This paper describes EPFL privacy protection tool for the MediaEval 2014 Visual Privacy task. The goal of the task is to obscure faces, body silhouettes, and personal items of people in the provided surveillance clips to preserve their personal privacy. The EPFL privacy protection tool mainly relies on two privacy protection filters: a warping-based reversible filter to obscure features with lo...
